Slide Submission
Slides should be submitted by 6:45 pm to allow time for sorting and paperwork. The slide committee may refuse to accept entries submitted after the meeting has been called to order. Absentee members may have another member submit slides for them.
Slides must be neatly mounted and able to fit into an 80-slide carousel. Mounts are to be marked with an orientation dot, title and maker’s name. To place the orientation dot, hold the slide with the emulsion side (screen side) away from you and mark a pencil eraser-sized spot in the lower left-hand corner of the slide mount. Turn the slide upside-down (keeping the emulsion side away from you) and write the title of your slide above the image (next to the spot). Then write your name below the image or, if there isn’t enough space, to the side of the image. Refer to the back of this booklet for an illustration of a properly-marked slide.
Each slide maker may submit a maximum of three (3) slides comprised of no more than two (2) slides from either the “Assignment”, “Open” or the “Non-Judged”
categories (e.g. two “Assignment” plus one “Open”, or one “Assignment” plus two “Open”). Judging of the slides will be done within Assignment and/or Open categories. Slides submitted in the Non-Judged category may be resubmitted as Assignment or Open at a later time. When the Assignment category is Nature, PSA guidelines will be followed
Competition slides will be judged by three club members (or an outside judge) and can be awarded up to 27 points total (9 points per judge). A judge presenting his/her own slide in competitions will enter a zero (0) when their work is shown. The scorekeeper will then enter an average of the other two judge’s scores in place of the competing judge’s score.
Any slide entered during the Competition Year (May through April of the following year) will be eligible for the End-of-the-Year competition in June. For this competition, every member is allowed to enter two slides each within the following three categories: Assignment, Open, and Nature (the Nature category is separate from the Assignment category for this competition only).
Questions about the Assignments may be directed to the Slide Directors
