PSCC Statement on the Use of Artificial Intelligence

Images that have been created, in whole or in part, using so-called artificial intelligence or “AI” software are not allowed in any Puget Sound Camera Club competition, including Digital Night, Print Night, and the various Year End competitions.

All images must originate as photographs made by the member. If the image is a composite, all of the elements of the image must originate as photographs made by the member. The use of third-party textures, skies, or stock photos is not allowed.

AI tools, such as Photoshop’s Generative Fill, may be used to remove elements from an image but may not be used to add elements beyond what pixels are necessary to fill the removed area. The filled area should be consistent with the existing image. An example might be the removal of a person from in front of a rock. The software may be used to fill in rock details where the person was previously. The software may not be used to replace the person with an animal or some other element that wasn’t there in the first place.

Images that have been found to violate this policy will be disqualified. The maker has the option of choosing the “Unjudged” category. This will allow the maker to show off their work while not competing for place awards.
